Ok so I have a 89 gmc suburban with the 5.7 tbi motor and it has serious blow by so I'm looking for a parts motor and I came across a 5.7 Vortec can I put some of the parts from the vortec onto my motor and still keep it as a TBI or is it too much of a headache. I am new to all this.

no the head bolt pattern for the intake is different, you can get a special manifold to do it , not sure on cost.
you should be able to do it using your old heads

I had a 1990 GMC 5.7 well I traded it in and years later I seen it and the new owner told me he had to change out the valve seals and I heard they had problems with the 1989 as well and some other years till GM corrected the problem.
