I would rebuild while its out more so if its popping out of 5th rather then having to tear it out a few weeks later when the tranny shells or 5th gear goes out.

    Unpleasant update:

Took my transmission and the rebuild kit to Nagalitos gear in San Antonio monday morning. Get a call Tuesday morning claiming parts are missing from the kit and that there is major damage to the transmission and that the rebuild bill will be $1,500 instead of $480. They then offered to keep my transmission and the rebuild kit if i buy a rebuilt one they had on hand for $1,200. Told them "HE... NO", and drove down to the shop. They tried to claim i needed almost everything but the case for what was suppose to be a labor only bearing job. Got my transmission back in pieces. Got it home and inspected the parts. Only the input shaft needed replacing due to wear on the shaft from the pilot bearing. Also found that they damaged 3 of the main bearings taking it apart. Seems they wanted to hide the fact about the damage and charge me to fix their f... up and pay for new parts. From my point of view that shop wanted the lazy and big customer bill way out. So now i am going to get the 1 or 2 parts needed and rebuild it myself.

One reason why I hate having to rely on Shops. It really sux you never know who's going to / trying to s<r3w you. Post there name all over Social Media (if you do that sort of thing) and let potential customers know of their shady way of doing business.
