Truck wont start when it rains

    I have a 2000 Doge Ram that wont start when the weather is wet its fine when the weather is dry. What do I need to check? Advice will be apreaciated.

    Won't start like cranks but no fire or no crank at all? What happens when you drive through water doe sit start back after its shut off?

    It cranks real good just wont start it only does it when the weater is real wet after things dry out it starts fine. I think it may be the distribtor cap.

    Keep a can of wd40 on hand, when it does it take off the distrib cap spray the inside of the cap put it back on see if it pops off, if it does the inside of the ditrib cap is getting wet somehow.

    change the spark plug wires

    You should be able to remove the cap while/ when it rained and see moisture in the cap. When was the last tune up done?



    irrelevant side note: When I first started driving my first 2 cars were Mopars (70 Charger & 73 Dart Sport). I never had an issue with the Charger but with the Dart it wouldn't start after a rain storm. I found out there was a little Ceramic box mounted on the driver side of the Firewall that had 2 wires for the ignition going to it. With age after a hard enough rain storm it would crack. I remember taking a piece of inner tube and making a cover for it to shield it from the water when it rained. LOL!
